The Things Network is transforming the way we connect 'things' to the internet, enabling anyone to build an end to end internet of things platform. This is done by leveraging the open power of LoRaWAN, The Things Global Network counts thousands of gateways around the world used by all sorts of organisations to build a range of applications. One LoRaWAN gateway supports thousands of 'things' within a range of 10-20km.
The technology is very battery efficient resulting in devices being able to last up to 5 years. Gateways together form one secure network and the advanced encryption of LoRaWAN secures the data from the 'thing' to the dashboard. Therefore, devices can roam freely across open networks yet keeping data secure.
Businesses are using The Things Network tools and open networks to build all sorts of value driving applications.
There are currently 15,964 gateways running applications across 150 countries such as cattle tracking, smart irrigation and smart parking to name a few.
We're currently working on a few interesting projects featuring LoRaWAN gateways as well as setting up our own Leading Edge off-grid system - we'll keep you posted!
