The rechargeable batteries are lead acid dioxide systems. The dilute sulphuric acid electrolyte is absorbed by seperators and plates and thus immobilized. Should the battery be accidently overcharged producing hydrogen and oxygen, special one way valves allow the gases to escape avoiding explove gas build up. Otherwise the battery is completely sealed and maintainance free, leak proof and useable in any orientation.
